About Our Crew
Our team of approximately 10 volunteers is drawn from the local area and across Yorkshire. We come from all walks of life—some with deep maritime experience and others from entirely land-based backgrounds.
Roles are flexible based on your comfort level: you can choose to focus entirely on essential shore-based launching and recovery, or train to crew the boats at sea under the direction of our helms. We are also actively seeking volunteers with engineering skills to help maintain our Boathouse and Ribcraft.
Why Join Us? We provide all the necessary training and equipment to prepare you for the shore or sea crew. This is an incredible opportunity for personal development, a chance to continue a proud life-saving tradition, and one of the most rewarding Search and Rescue volunteer roles in the world.
What We Look For:
Aged 18 or over and physically fit.
A reliable team player who communicates well and takes instruction easily.
Enthusiastic about committing to training and fundraising events.

If you're selected as a Lifeboat Crew Volunteer, you'll be given training.
It will include:
- Search and rescue skills
- Basic first aid
- Casualty and stretcher handling
- STCW survival techniques
- Powerboat Level 2

How you can help:
On the Ground: Help out at open days, sell official RBRB merchandise, bake a cake, or flip burgers at a BBQ.
Behind the Screen: Are you a social media wizard? Help us spread the word and keep the community updated on our latest events.
